A winery established by Don Juan Sanchez Magia in 1904 as a small, family-owned company. The original winery still exists in the village of Valdepenas. The winery stayed for generations in the hands of the Magia family, but in 1988 it was taken over by the present-day CEO of the company, Navarro Doroteo Donado. Since then, the winery has been focusing on producing wines from single grape varieties. In 2001 the company’s seat was moved to a new location, amongst the fields and vineyards.
In 2002 Navarro Lopez began making wine labelled as. ‘Tierra de Castilla’. To further expand and improve its portfolio, wines from other Spanish Denominated Origins (hereafter referred to as D.O) were included in the company’s offer, such as 2006 DOC Rioja and 2008 and 2009 Ribera del Duero and Rueda. The desire to become a worldwide leading providers was further strengthened in 2010 with the acquisition of one of the most iconic wineries in Rioja: Bodegas Valoria.
